I noticed that on the intersection of Pershing and Woodford that there is an "Adopt a Street" sign where the street had been adopted by Rick Maurer. Is that OUR Rick Maurer?

I asked him about it and I think he adopted half of Pershing Street! Which means he has to do a lot picking up trash so if you are one who throws things out the window up there, the less time he has to play games with you.

I would love to adopt Rick as surely my boardgaming plays per month would go up significantly, however with two kids already in tow I think I'll have to pass at this time. That said, I think we can all agree that he deserves a good home.

David

P.S. In case you all weren't aware I've met Rick a couple times previously so (I think) can get away with this.

Yes, you have discovered my "dirty" secret. I adopted a street about two years ago. On the weekends or just in my free time, I pick a section to clean up. It enjoy being outdoors and doing something helpful to the community. Just don't expect me to be outdoors in this weather right now. I usually start going out in April.

If the DG group is interested in adopting a street, I would recommend going down to the mayor's office a call. I believe that he took over the Adopt a Street program from the UOI Extension office. It would be a great way to promote the group and you are only required to clean up three times a year.

I remember you too David. We still have a Twilight Struggle match to complete. I think I also have a rematch with your son in Battlelore as well. wink

Well at least now I know where I'll be throwing my trash from my car as I drive along.
