Come join us in celebrating the 1 Year Anniversary of Decatur Gamers! We are meeting for dinner at Decatur's own Clockwork Pizza to share a whopping 42" pizza (delivered on a crane!) and cake. Everyone is invited - members, family, kids, and friends! This is NOT a gaming event - this is going to be a social event only. Eat some pizza, share some stories, and get to know each other even better. Hope you can make it!

You MUST RSVP for this event. We have booked the room, and as such, we need everyone to RSVP and pay in advance (details below). Do not expect to just "show up" and have a seat available! We will need to have at least 15 people RSVP "YES" or we will have to re-think the party details. So bring your friends!

Details:
What: Decatur Gamers Anniversary Party
Who: All Decatur Gamers members, friends, and family.
When: Saturday, May 15th 2009 from 4:30-7:00pm.
Where: Clockwork Pizza, Decatur
How Much: $15 per person. This includes the pizza, soda, salad, cake, tax, and gratuity. This price is based on an anticipated RSVP list of 15 people. If we get several more people to RSVP (and pay!), then we will refund the difference at the party. You can pay in advance at any upcoming Meetup. If you want to come to the party but won't be at a Meetup between now and then, drop me a line and we'll work it out.
Food: We will be sharing a Clockwork 42" Pizza, Salad, Soda, and Cake. We will have different toppings on different sections of the pizza to accommodate everyone. Anything else you want to purchase (other drinks, appetizers, etc) will be on your own tab.

This should be a great time, if you've been waiting for an event to come to... this is it!

Also, isn't it funny that THIS discussion is our most active ever - and it has nothing to do with gaming?

LOL, thanks Bill. It's fine - I just want everyone to show up and have a good time. If we have people that want to go in together and get the giant pizza, that's great! If we have people that want to order on their own, that's fine too. Like Bill said, it's just about getting together and having some fun. We'll work it out.

Disappointment about cranes & concerns about food being less than ideal--put all of that aside. The point was to celebrate the Anniversary of Decatur Gamers and I suggest we support the group's Organizer (who'd probably be glad to turn over the reins at any point!) & joyfully eat whatever is in front of you!

Correct. Brian, on the other hand, can be punched at any time.

Josh is looking for people to go in with him on the 42". So for those of you wanting to do that, go ahead.
Next time I decide to organize something like this, someone punch me in the throat, ok?

*sigh* Because we had some people comment that they would prefer ordering on their own to get specifically what they wanted.

Yes, it was. But organizing that proved... ineffective. Maybe next time. Still, come for pizza!

So not bringing the giant pizza on the crane? I thought that was the USP, unique selling proposition.

It was great to see so many members, old and new, under the same roof. A great time was had by all and we may have found a venue in which to game more often... Win:win

Had a fantastic time! Pizza was great, and enjoyed talking to friends; old and new.

Awesome!! The potential to game there......SWEET
    •  The only way I could think of to improve is if there were some sort of way to have each person introduce themselves and the games they are interested in. It would work better in a quieter, less "L" shaped table setting... so not really possible at Clockwork. I think that a big part of the success (besides the auspiciousness of the celebration) was the pizza on a crane. It was not something that most people would have experienced before or could afford to do on their own. So it was genius to pick it. But maybe there's something similar that is not readily open to the public that might pique gamer curiosity and this is the close to the sort of thing I do for a living actually (planning unique events for tour passengers) so I will think about what might work for DG in a future event that could also incorporate the meet'n'greet aspect I mentioned first. Good going guys!
    •  Enjoyed myself very much. I'll look forward to more events at Clockwork Pizzeria.
    •  thanks for everything Chris & Matt!
    •  So much fun!! The pizza was great, and it was fun to watch the crane bring it out. I enjoyed talking with everyone and meeting some new faces.
    •  It was really fun! It was great to see a good turnout and especially to see some new faces. On top of that, the pizza was good and we may have a new venue for gaming too!
