"Gen Con Indy is the original, longest running, best attended, gaming convention in the world. For over 41 years, Gen Con Indy has been setting the trend and breaking records. Last year, more than 30,000 unique attendees experienced Gen Con Indy. The biggest complaint we hear is that there is simply too much to do, see, and experience. Get lost in a phantasm of art exhibits. Stare at jaw-dropping costumes, or better yet, wear one of your own. Meet the movers and the shakers in the gaming industry. Check out the newest games and get a sneak peek at the latest editions. And, of course, play your heart out with fellow enthusiasts in a community that understands your passion. What you'll experience at Gen Con Indy is nothing short of IT. You know, whatever "It" is for you? This is IT! Get ready to get there. "
Gen Con this year is August 4-7. And as crazy as it sounds, the hotel block opens January 25th! So I thought it might be a good time to open up discussion about who plans on going, who needs a room, who has room, etc. |

Chancy and I are heading down on the 3rd and coming back on the 7th. I usually have 5-6 people go with me, but this year I'm looking at only a couple. If we get the same room we usually get we'll have room for 3 or 4 more people, but I still have to confirm who in my usual group is going and who is staying behind this year.

Unless something changes in the next 8 months, Amy, Ben, and I will be going on Friday, Sat, Sun.
I would flippin' LOVE to have an all Decatur Gamers True Dungeon Run. Think we can make that happen?! |

The toughest part is getting a full slot of TD. However, if enough of us were trying, perhaps we could achieve it.
The next issue is just finding the day when we know everyone will be at Gen Con. The nice thing about a full group is no need to worry about the token whores that have already ran the dungeon. |

Barring something drastic, I should be able to go, but I would just have to meet up with everyone there. I have friends in Indy that I can stay with.

I have a reservation at Homewood Suites, which I really liked, but I am thinking of getting a room at Springhill Suites, which is part of the new JW Marriot complex. It is connected to the Con Center via hamster tube.
And here is my fiendish plan for parking: I park at the Springhill for less than one hour for $5 so I can get all my stuff unloaded and into the room. Then I leave and park my car across the street at the White River garage. This garage closes at 11 pm on Saturday night, which means there is no attendant, but you can still leave. So, Saturday night I move my car back to the Springhill so I can pack up Sunday morning. Total parking cost would be $29 from Tuesday through Sunday. Not bad for downtown! |
