Bill Owen is hosting a Civil War Minis game at the Frankin Mall, Decatur on October 10, 2009. The game is being run from 10AM-10PM - you don't have to be there the entire time, you can come at any time and get into the next available game.

Clarification- this will be ONE long game for up to TWELVE players... I just don't expect that they will show up at once but rather arrive and leave intermittently,
This will be the last wargame played at Franklin Mall under the auspices of the 40+ year old ICD wargame club and former wargame publisher location of Judges Guild. We will auction the mall in November. I hope that some of the old-timers from the ICD & JG can come. The rules will be the original brigade-based set that I made based on the IFW's regimental scale and offered to publish through TSR in 1976. They are very easy to learn and oriented to constant action. We welcome players without any miniature wargame experience but have a minimum age of 16 because of how delicate and expensive the miniatures are and the younger folks can be too wild. Unfortunately, same weekend as ICON in Springfield (http://www.mecca-anim... P.S. in case you didn't know Franklin Mall is in downtown Decatur at 304 S Franklin St. If you have a question, I'm in the phone book or you can call me at my other business, Tour Group Pro, same address. Plenty of free parking. |

Neat, so you have some connection to the old Judges Guild?

Anyone planning to come to the game tomorrow? If so, can you say when? If there are times when no one's there, I will be getting things ready in the mall for the auction so I may be not standing by the door when you walk in. Ring the temple bells and I will hear them.
Please note that this game will look very different than the tiny tanks game I brought to Cerro Gordo... the troops are 1" high and the battlefield is on a ping pong table so 5x9' instead of 4x4'. |

Thanks for putting on a great event, Bill. The Confederacy sent the Yankees packing and it was a fun time all around. For once, the dice didn't mess me over completely.
I'll look forward to seeing the pictures posted soon.Edited by Rick Maurer on Oct 10, 2009 6:31 PM |

Thanks to Rick and Mark (who was a fellow wizard back in Bob Bledsaw's Tolkien-based D&D campaign in 1974) for playing today. Game ran from 1030-430PM and yes the Confederates won and despite being outnumbered by my Union troops.
A remarkable event was how small group of 300 CSA skirmishers spontaneously chased a whole regiment (500 men) off the field of battle. It took their divisional commander to get them back into the battle. |

Not a good idea to put George B. McClellan in charge of that unit.
