Fellow Gamers,
I am wanting to organize a steady Magic Draft here in Decatur. Any ideas where this can be done? I see the Decatur Club is being used. How does that work? Do you have to reserve rooms there and is there is a cost? I am trying to get sancationed so they are official tourneys. Let me know. Thanks in advance. |

I would set it up at Richland Community College through the Richland Gamers Club. Let me know what you have in mind and we can coordinate something here at the school through Campus Life.

That sounds good. I am down in Little Rock this week for business but when I get back, maybe we can get something going. Thanks again. |

Count me in for the draft. Its been a while since I have played, and I think they guy who taught me, taught me the rules to make his decks always win, so I might need a refresher.

I'm not sure we can get the Decatur Club for an additonal day, but you are welcome to play Magic on our open game nights there--there's plenty of room in the library.

I'm fairly certain we could not get the Decatur Club for an additional day. But, both Chris and Rick are correct - we could do MtG on our Open Game Nights, and we could have specific, scheduled MtG events at RCC whenever you'd like.

Hello all..
Could I get a count of People that would be willing to Draft like on Saturday afternoon, say once or twice a month? We would like to have 8+ people. Right now we have 3-4 regulars Also, could we have Richland as a game place on Saturday afternoons? What does everyone think? |

Hello all.. I'm not sure how many MtG players we have in the group, and of those, I'm not sure how many check the forums. If I might make a suggestion - your best bet would probably be to pick a day and allow us to schedule it as a Meetup with RSVPs. Hopefully you'll pick up some players that way. I can't promise that you'll get a LOT of people, but as you have a regular schedule, more will pick up. Also, just a suggestion, you may want to think about doing a "Intro to MtG" game. I'd bet there are some people out there that have never played, and are curious but skeptical. You might gain some regulars that way. If you want to pick a date, time, and location, just let us know. I'm sure RCC will be fine, Rick has done a great job securing that as a venue for us. |

First off, thanks for keeping the interest going on this thread. Second, is there is a way to put something on the front page of this site (like a tally) of people who are willing to play Magic in a draft format on a regular basis? Third, I am working with another dude on getting Decatur a sancationed event holder which means we will have promo cards, prizes, and DCI ratings. This is why we need to the number of people who are willing cause this information has to be given to Wizards of the Coast. Fourth, Richland sounds like a great place to hold this type of event. I will talk with my other friend who is helping me get organized about this play venue. Fifth, if you have played Magic before but have never drafted or sealed, this would be a great way to get into this type of format. Our group is very relaxed and are there to have fun. Thanks! |

Unfortunately, we have a cart/horse or chicken/egg problem. You can wait to see how many people you'll get interested, but my gut says you'll have very little response. Or you can schedule and go for it, but then you won't have the numbers to provide to your sponsor. You can do either, I'm not sure what will be best for your efforts.
In order to get an accurate "tally", we will have to either have people reply here OR schedule a Meetup with RSVPs. |
