Take a moment and look at the June Calendar. There are six (SIX!) events during the month. How cool is that? Now there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to come to at least one thing this month!

Take a moment and look at the June Calendar. There are six (SIX!) events during the month. How cool is that? Now there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to come to at least one thing this month! And for JULY it is worth noting now that I am planning a Civil War game on either Saturday, July 17 or 24 using Volley & Bayonet rules... which Rick played the other day in Champaign (but for the Revolutionary War). After an interval to allow any who are interested to advise if one date is better than the other, I will request the date shortly. |

If it is anything like the Battle of Granny Creek, this battle should be very enjoyable.

Since I haven't heard a peep from anyone besides Rick, I am going to contact the only other 2 miniatures Decatur Gamers I know of (Chris & Ed) and we'll see if the 7/17/10 date will work for them also... or if they need another date/time.
Then we'll set the date on the DG calendar and hope some one else discovers it... all are welcome! |

I'm for it as long as I can get the day off (assuming this is in the middle of the day)--it's fairly close to my Gen Con days off, so its not guaranteed.

Okeey dokey then... your "ramp up" for Gen Con is greater than mine was when we were SELLING product there! Re: time-wise, I was thinking of starting around 9:30 AM so that it wouldn't have to run into the evening. So far I have 3 firm Divisional Commanders and welcome more. |

Any ideas who the cast of characters (historical commanders) will be in this battle?

Champions Hill is one of the important battles of the Civil War. This is the last point the Confederates could have stopped Grant before he could bottle up Vicksburg where along with Gettysburg, the USA turned the tide on the 187th anniversary of our Independence.
So, who's who: US Grant as army commander (corps commanders McPherson & McClernand) versus John C Pemberton (divisional commanders Loring, Stevenson, Bowen & Lee). This is an updated scenario from GDW's ACW battle sourcebook: http://homepages.para... |

Any ideas who the cast of characters (historical commanders) will be in this battle? My preference would be to not refight historical battles. Mainly because it gives players a chance to learn from the mistakes of the original commanders in what was to them (the historical commanders) a fluid situation. While this can be good occasionally, a campaign of battles have advantages. Then players avoid problem behavior that Rick alluded to earlier, the last turn throwing away of troops in hopes for a 11th hour decision--disregarding the need to conserve troops for future battles. It would help if we had 1 more player. Maybe that's you? |

187th anniversary of our Independence. OOPS! Make that 87th anniversary: 1863! |
