I would be interested but mainly to just learn the game. I do not have it and never known anyone with the game. So you might find that several might be novice or beginning players wanting to just try it. Which would pay dividends to the experienced Catan fans by widening who's played it and might play again.
The other thing that occurs to me is that almost any game more complex than tic tac toe (i.e. virtually all of the games this group wants to play) might profit by having an earlier training date or starting the meetup at 2 times: learn the game time for new players and then the real start when experienced players should show up by. Just a sug. |

I own the core version of the game, but I have only played it with a couple of people.
I would be interested in attending a Settlers of Catan event and learning how the expansions work. |

We have some hardcore Catan players - myself included.
How about this, we have several people bring their Catan games and expansions. Have someone running "newbie" Catan with the specific purpose of teaching players who have never played (or not played much), have someone running Catan "Classic" (players who are intermediate to advanced playing the core game), and Catan "Expanded" (playing the various expansions? That way, everyone can play something, assuming it's Catan related. I own two sets of Catan, plus a couple of expansions. The Dudleys own all the expansions, I think. And I know others do, as well. This would probably have to be a July event. |

I think we do a pretty good job of making our games newbie friendly. I can't think of a game we have played where at least a person or two had never played before. Heck, I've been exposed to all sorts of new games on the open game days.
