Decatur Gamers grew out of a need to find people who enjoy playing "non traditional" board games, RPGs, and CCGs. Unfortunately, the population of the Decatur, IL area doesn't offer many opportunities to find "gamer geeks", so we decided to seek them out.

We focus on tabletop games - games that require you to actually sit face to face with other human beings. While we also like to play computer and console games, that is NOT the purpose of this site.
We play a variety of board games - Chris and Matt (the organizers of Decatur Gamers) own probably a hundred games between them. And we're always on the lookout for new things. We are regular attendees of Gen Con, and we also try to attend regional gamer cons when we can.
Our goal is to have two official Game Day Meetups per month, where we'll pick a game and play. Beyond that, we hope that our members will hold their own game events; be that a RPG campaign, a quick board game, a family night, whatever. We want this group to be a way for gamers to meet other gamers, we won't necessarily be running games all the time.
While we are called Decatur Gamers, that doesn't necessarily mean that we're looking for people ONLY in Decatur. If you live in a surrounding community, or even if you're in Champaign/Urbana, Bloomington/Normal, Springfield, Effingham, etc, you are MORE than welcome to be part of our group. Heck, as long as you are willing to make the drive for some gaming fun, you can be from anywhere!
We are just starting out with this Meetup group, so we would ask for your patience as we get organized. If you have any comments or suggestions, we would love to hear them. Thank you!
